Ouzo Cretan Ouzo with box 200ml

The threshold of the history of ouzo are unknown. It is presumed that the drink was producer with a similar taste even in the anciet times. What’s for certain however is that it was already known during the period of the Byzantine Empire. The production of ouzo was increased and spread locally in Greece after the independence from the Ottomans.

Ouzo is a mixture of spirit, water and other sweet – smelling herbs, including anise.The distillation takes place in special distillation flaks which are preferably made of copper. After the ingredients are mixed , the mixture is left to boil for more than once.
